Senior Data Scientist (Malaysian only!)

A leading organisation in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to play a pivotal role in their ongoing Data and AI transformation journey. This role offers the opportunity to leverage expertise in data science, analytics, and machine learning to drive meaningful change across the business.

The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment, designing and implementing sophisticated machine learning models that address real-world business challenges such as risk modelling or fraud detection.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Engineering or related disciplines
• At least five years’ experience working within data analytics, data science, machine learning or similar fields
• Demonstrated hands-on proficiency with Python programming language as well as SQL for querying large datasets
• Proven track record in developing and applying statistical modelling techniques and machine learning algorithms
• Experience using leading data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau
• Comprehensive understanding of core data governance concepts including quality management principles, ownership structures, metadata management practices and compliance requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive Data & AI initiatives by supporting the development of comprehensive data strategies, operating models, and transformation roadmaps
• Act as an Operational Data Steward by establishing and maintaining robust data governance practices
• Lead the implementation of enterprise-wide data frameworks encompassing information architecture, data quality management processes, and governance structures
• Analyse large-scale business datasets to uncover trends, generate insights, and identify opportunities for process optimisation
• Develop and deploy advanced AI/ML models tailored for business applications such as risk assessment, fraud detection, predictive analytics, and operational optimisation
• Champion the adoption of BI analytics solutions like Power BI or Tableau to enhance reporting capabilities
• Establish clear data performance metrics, service level agreements (SLAs), and reporting frameworks
• Partner with cross-functional teams to embed a culture of data-driven decision-making
• Promote data literacy by delivering training sessions or workshops aimed at strengthening overall organisational data capabilities
